Why Knowing What To Do Still Doesn’t Get Results
Mar 18, 2026You already know what to do.
Eat better.
Move more.
Sleep more.
You may have dozens of videos saved, podcasts bookmarked, and articles explaining exactly what steps to take.
Yet knowing what to do does not always translate into results.
Why?
Because information alone does not create change.
It requires a system.
During this week’s LOF Office Hours livestream, we explored the four variables that help transform knowledge into consistent action.
The Four Variables:
Awareness
Intention
Action
Accountability
These four variables form the bridge between knowing and doing.
Without them, knowledge remains theoretical, and habits rarely stick.
Awareness
The first step toward change is awareness.
This means recognizing your current patterns, habits, and behaviors.
Many people blame themselves for a lack of discipline when the real issue is a lack of awareness about the systems influencing their behavior.
As awareness increases, it becomes easier to identify where change is needed.
Intention
Awareness alone is not enough.
You must decide where you want to go.
Intention provides direction and answers an important question:
Why does this change matter?
Without clear intention, actions often become inconsistent or short-lived.
When intention is clear, behaviors gain meaning and purpose.
Action
Action is where knowledge becomes behavior.
But action without direction often leads to frustration.
Intentional action means applying small, measurable behaviors consistently over time.
Small, consistent steps often produce the greatest long-term results.
Accountability
Accountability dramatically increases follow-through.
When people commit to someone else or create structured check-ins, their likelihood of maintaining habits increases significantly.
This is why coaching, community, and structured systems can be powerful tools for behavior change.
Accountability turns intentions into consistent action.
The gap between knowing and doing is rarely solved with more information.
It is solved with structure.
Awareness
Intention
Action
Accountability
When these four pieces align, progress becomes much more sustainable.
